Bob Dylan: Presidential Medal of Freedom

Bob Dylan receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the White House on Tuesday (May 29) in Washington, DC.

The 70-year-old rock legend is one among 13 prominent figures to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.

"My world opening up, because he captured something about this country that was so vital." President Obama recalls about Bob Dylan during his college days.

Presidential Medal of Freedom is presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

The list of 13 honorees includes musician Bob Dylan, writer Toni Morrison, and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright among others.
