Brad Pitt: Hopes For Marriage Equality Before His Wedding

Brad Pitt waves to fans at the premiere of Killing Them Softly at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 22) in Cannes, France.

The 48-year-old actor talked about violence and the political undertone in his new gangster movie and a bit about his marriage plans to Angelina Jolie at the press conference after its premiere at the film festival.

"I certainly felt on reading the script that this was making a commentary. At the time, people were at the apex of the mortgage loan debacle, people were leaving their homes. I felt I was reading a gangster film and then … it coalesced that this microcosm was saying something about the macro-world." he commented on the movie set during 2008 presidential election and economic crisis.

"It speaks more to our great toxic divide, where it is more about the party winning the argument than the issues themselves … In this election year, we're going to see more negative adverts than ever before and I don't want this film to be seen in any way as part of that. I think it's going to be rather ugly." He adds.

On whether he has set a wedding date, he responds "We have no date. We actually really, truly have no date. It’s something that makes sense to us … and we’re still hoping we figure out marriage equality in the States before then, before that date."

Killing Them Softly is expected to be release on September 21, 2012.

Lady Gaga: Emotional Response To Religious Protests Against Her

Lady Gaga responds to the protests against her Born This Way Ball tour in Asia at her concert on Monday (May 21) in Manila, Philippines.

The 26-year-old singer's Asia tour has been marred by protests from religious groups in South Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia claiming her performances promoted promiscuity and homosexuality.

"I just feel like, you know, so many people have been protesting and it really doesn't bother me truly because I know that there has to be change, but for all those kids all over the world that take their lives when they're so young because they feel bullied or they're afraid because they're gay and they don't want to tell anybody, don't you think that some of us should stand up and say the god**n truth?" she tells the audience in Manila.

Carey Mulligan: Ambassador For Alzheimer's Society

Carey Mulligan becomes ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society to help promote awareness of the condition.

The 26-year-old actress, whose grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's disease, first became aware of her beloved grandmother’s condition when she was a teenager.

“When I was about 15 years old, I was studying for my GCSEs (exams) and choosing my A Level (course) subjects. Just small things, she couldn’t remember what subjects I was doing for my A Levels. She would go for walks around our house in Buckinghamshire that she had done hundreds of times and she couldn’t find her way home, and we would get a phone call. Just simple things… things like that kept coming up." she tells BBC.

“Initially there was so much fear and so much sadness about it. It’s terribly sad that she doesn’t recognize you. I was very, very close to my grandmother growing up.”

However, Carey reveals her grandmother still has a huge love for music and often responds positively to her favorite bands. She adds, “It’s always so wonderful to see a glimpse of her, and have a moment where she responds or where you can see her really at peace or happy.”

Every day, mothers take hundreds of little actions to keep their children out of harm's way, from steering them away from traffic to keeping toxic household cleaners out of reach. When you add it all up, it's a heroic body of work.
But every once in awhile, mothers will do something so extraordinary to ensure the safety of their children that it alters the way we think about our world. Four mothers in Erie, Colo., are attempting to accomplish just that, and in doing so they will help expose the truth about natural gas.

Lady Gaga: Concert Protests In Philippines

Lady Gaga’s tour of Asia has been hit with another blow after protest groups in the Philippines called on officials to follow Indonesia’s lead and ban the pop star from performing.

Dozens of hardline Christians took to the streets of capital city Manila on Friday (May 18) for a ‘Stop the Lady Gaga concerts’ rally, piling pressure on organisers to axe the upcoming shows.

The protesters, from the Biblemode Youth Philippines group, say they are offended by the raunchy Poker Face hitmaker’s music and promos, and singled out her hit track Judas, branding it blasphemous.

The Bad Romance singer is due to perform in the city on Monday and Tuesday, and Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto has urged promoters to ensure she obeys the country’s strict concert rules, which ban nudity and lewd acts, according to the Associated Press.

The Asian leg of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour has been dogged with problems – uncertainty still hangs over her planned gig in Jakarta, Indonesia next month after officials withdrew her performance permit, and her show in Seoul, South Korea was hit with protests and a ban on under-18s.
